MUSEUMS:
Museo Civico Archeologico di Sarteano
The museum houses mainly artefacts from the numerous Etruscan necropolises in the surrounding area. In the museum you can book a visit to the tomb of “the Chariot from the Underworld”, one of the most significant discoveries of Etruscology in the last decades. Less than 10 minutes drive from Tenuta di Spineto.
Museo Civico Archeologico di Chiusi
A visit to “La Città Sotterranea” - the underground city - takes you through a labyrinth of tunnels, Etruscan tombs and Christian catacombs. Less than 15 minutes drive from Tenuta di Spineto.
Museo Civico di Cetona e Parco Archeologico
The Museum of Prehistory of Mount Cetona houses a collection covering many aspects of human settlement in the region. The museum is also responsible for the Archaeological Park Belverde where you can visit some of the caves including the famous grotto where St Francis is reputed to have sojourned.
Museo Civico Archeologico delle Acque
Housed in an ancient granary close to the old town, the museum has a series of galleries displaying collections that cover the history of Chianciano and the surrounding region.
